The victim, Walter Scott, turns to run away from the officer, after being threatened, according to the witness who captured the video footage. The source claims the police officer did not know he was being recorded or watched; "he thought he was out there alone with the man he shot in the back."
The Washington Post reported that the department charged Michael Thomas Slager with murder after seeing the footage of the officer firing several shots into the victim's back as he ran away.
Officers rarely face criminal charges after shooting people, a fact that has played into nationwide protests over the past year over how the police use deadly force. Yet this case took a swift, unusual turn after a video shot be a bystander provided authorities with a decisive narrative that differed from Slager's account.Okay, so what else is new?
The public has always known how police officers consistently, over time degraded into badge-wearing vigilantes who hunted mostly men of color, but decided anyone could serve as a target...i.e. men, women, and children. AND NOTHING is ever done about it. It's like the badge gives them a pass to commit murder "by the book." Thank God for technology!
"Shots fired and the subject is down, he took my Taser."What????
Wait. It gets better.
Police later said Scott (the victim) was hit with the Taser at least once, because part of it was still attached when other officers arrived on the scene.Wonder HOW that got there? Do you think Slager (the murderer) shot Scott in the back with the Taser, AFTER he was down, to fit the LIE he told to dispatch? Let's see:
However, the VIDEO footage shows that Scott was running away from Slager, and officials said that he was too far away to use a Taser...See the pattern? Read on.
Moreover, the footage shows Slager PICKING UP AND ITEM AND PLACING IT NEAR SCOTT, though it is unclear if this is the Taser or something else.
It's typical of Slager to tell a different story. This, also, has been happening all the time. You know the drill...shoot an unarmed man, then fix up the scene to fit the story you want to tell.
If the person shooting the video hadn't been there, we would be hearing Slager's version on every news station, talking about how Scott was a threat to the officer's safety, so the shooting was "justified."
But any wino on the street could have told you how this went down, without even being there---because it's the same old soup served up in a different bowl. They've seen many of their friends gunned down like animals.
Since advancements in technology, people SEE things differently. In other words, citizens in every township say the same thing: "police are the number one threat to society."
For centuries, they have enjoyed the freedom to kill at random; and then tell a lie that they know everyone will believe. You might say they are "licensed to kill."
Citizens are like the ducks you see at the County Fair, moving targets who could be the next victim lying on a slab at the morgue. Meanwhile, the murderer gets a medal at a ceremony downtown.
Are ALL police gun-totin' dangers to society? In fairness to the reality, the answer is "no". All police aren't bad; but because they all wear the same "license-to-kill" badge, you can't tell one from the other.
This is a real problem for everybody.

Delete@Betty R. First of all, I'm not a bitch. Second, I believe you shouldn't run from the police. But that's just my opinion.
DeleteTry taking "your opinion" to Walter Scott's family. I bet you get your ass kicked. Better yet, if I was face-to-face with you, I would kick your ass myself.
DeleteYou stupid! Stop commenting on this.
Anna, thanks for participating in the conversation...but I agree with Betty R. It doesn't matter that he was running away.
